Grade 10 Academic Science - Fall 2019


Welcome back to a wonderful year of science at Cawthra Park.  Hope you had a fun filled summer and are ready to embark on an exciting semester of Science.  The grade 10 course consists of 4 units of study:  Optics, Chemical Reactions, Plant and Animal Biology and Climate Change.  A course outline detailing evaluation practices, mark breakdown and course of study will be given to you on the first day of class.  


If you are wondering what materials you should have in preparation for the class, the following list would be helpful.



*3 ring binder

*lined paper

*pencils (mechanical 0.7 mm HB preferred)
*pens (2 colours)

*correction tape/white out

*eraser

Wednesday, October 2
     Practice lens diagrams   Page 2 - complete and submit by the end of the class

Thursday, October 3
     Lens Equations and Magnification of Images in Lenses - lesson
        - using math to determine location and properties of images

     Homework:  Select ONE converging and ONE diverging lens to complete a full solution to
        - each solution must include the ray diagram AND mathematical solution

Friday, October 4
   Continue work on Thin Lens equation problems.  Submit on Google classroom if it wasn't handed in by the end of the class.
